Following Meetings with Political Leaders, President Ghani meets Mohaqiq, other Political Leaders
Following consultative meetings about peace, president M. Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met Mohammad Mohaqiq, Sadiq Mudabir, Sayed Ali Kazemi, Asadullah Sa’adati, Mohammad Akbari, Abdul Haq Shafaq, and Mohammad Natiqi. The president’s press office said in a statement.
Following consultative meetings about peace, president M. Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met Mohammad Mohaqiq, Sadiq Mudabir, Sayed Ali Kazemi, Asadullah Sa’adati, Mohammad Akbari, Abdul Haq Shafaq, and Mohammad Natiqi. The president’s press office said in a statement.
The statement further added that President Ghani heard the opinions of political leaders regarding the establishment of peace consultative board, high peace council activities, the formation of peace negotiators delegation, and the establishment of various committees.
President Ghani further said that the basis for the government is the consensus of the people of Afghanistan and the basis of measures regarding the peace deal will be consultations. According to the statement.
On the other hand, president Ghani on Friday met with leaders of Jamiat party, Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, and some members of the civil society to consult about peace talks.
It is believed that president Ghani is under US pressure regarding peace talks and wants to decrease the pressures through traditional Afghan forces; as Afghans have had no role in direct talks between Khalilzad and Taliban representatives.
