French FM to Visit Rouhani in Iran

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that Jean-Yves Le Drian will meet with the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his two-day visit, discussing bilateral, regional and international issues.

Earlier this month, the French embassy in Tehran announced in a statement that “Jean Yves Le Drian, minister for Europe and French foreign minister” will open the “Louvre in Tehran” exhibition with the presence of the head of Louvre Museum John Luke Martinez in the national museum of Iran on Monday.
The Louvre exhibition in Tehran will be open from 5 March to 8 June at the national museum of Iran.

The visit of the French FM is said to be sensitive and useful for Tehran as it is faced Trump’s new sanctions.
The Islamic Republic of Iran tries to reduce the effects of US sanctions and isolate the United States through its relations with European countries.

Meanwhile, The Treasury of France, affiliated with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, said in a report on trade between France and Iran in 2017 that the volume of trade between the two countries reached € 3.8 billion last year.

According to the report, France was the ninth exporter to Iran globally in 2017 and the third exporter after Germany and Italy.
After Italy, France is the second trade partner of Iran in the European Union.
