German Special envoy on Afghanistan Markus Potzel at the head of a delegation has reportedly met with Taliban chief of political office Mullah Baradar in Doha, Qatar.
German Special envoy on Afghanistan Markus Potzel at the head of a delegation has reportedly met with Taliban chief of political office Mullah Baradar in Doha, Qatar.
Zabihullah Mujahid, who introduces himself as Taliban spokesman said in a statement that the two sides met each other on Saturday.
“Both sides discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, various aspects of a peaceful resolution to the Afghan issue,” the statement said.
The meeting comes as Afghanistan’s head of high peace council secretariat Umer Daudzai has recently visited Germany and discussed the peace process with German officials in Berlin.
