Dr. Hamayun Qayumi is one of the most controversial figures in the past three years of the National Unity Government.
He is Mr. Ghani’s adviser on infrastructure affairs, and the major controversies that have taken place between Arg and Sepidar over the last few years end to this unknown, but influential figure on president Ghani.
He is accused of taking over the management of collecting resources. He has managed the most sectoral ministries while being an adviser to president Ghani.
Now, according to sources, president Ghani has chosen this trusted person as the finance minister.
The presidential palace said that Mr Qayumi will be introduced to Wolesi Jirga to win a confidence vote.
