HRC: violence against women increased in Bamiyan
Independent human rights commission (IHRC) in Bamiyan, has reported the increase in complaints about violence against women in the province.
According to (DID) news agency report, IHRC, which had a meeting with civil society activists, the media and local authorities of the province, gave notice about the increase in complaints about violence against women in this province.
On the other hand, Bamiyan’s women affairs office announced that violence against women has dropped during the recent year in the province.
Regional office of the human rights commission in Bamiyan, rejected the claims of the women affairs office, and says that in the past year, the number of violence against women were reported lower than 100 cases in Bamiyan, but this year more than 111 cases have been reported about violence against women to the office.
Ruhollah Forugh, former head of the human rights commission in Bamiyan told (DID) news agency that the number of violence against women in Bamiyan has been unprecedented, during past three years.
It is noteworthy that during last two months, more than 12 cases of murder occurred in Bamiyan, and more than 60 percent of them are women.
