Afghanistan’s former chief of NDS Amrullah Saleh says he has reliable information from several sources that people close to president Ghani have been in contact with a number of parliamentary candidates, and have told them that they determine the election result.
“a number of leading candidates have been called to an office in Wazir Akbar Khan and told that they are going to be on determining winners list if they sign a paper pledging loyalty to the president and future demands from his office,” former NDS chief Amrullah Saleh wrote on Twitter.
“key staff from Ashraf Ghani entourage such as Mr. Fazly and President’s chief of staff Mr.Rahimi have started an illegal vetting process to determine the finalists of the parliamentary elections. The vetting involves face to face interview too,” he added.
This comes as Mohammad Mousa Jenab, a member of the House of Representatives, also claimed yesterday that the purchase of seats in the next parliament ongoing in Kabul’s Saray Shahzada.
“The candidates for the parliamentary election and agents of the electoral commissions’ members in the Kabul Saray Shahzada are involved in a deal to illegally gain access to the future parliament,” he said.
However, the members of the election commission have already said that no one can represent them.
The IEC rejected such deals, and has called on the candidates not to be deceived by such people. The election commission has also asked the security agencies to identify and prosecute these people.
