The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in New Delhi on Tuesday and released a joint statement which said: “long-lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan is the stability of the region”.
A joint statement between the two countries “reiterated support for efforts of the government and the people for a genuine Afghan-owned, Afghan-led and Afghan-controlled peace and reconciliation process that would allow for a peaceful, secure, united, inclusive and prosperous nation.

The Uzbek president Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a statement that these countries suffer from the continuation of the war in Afghanistan, and that a political solution is needed to put an end to this war.
“we had a very serious and precise attention to the problem of the continuation of the war in Afghanistan. This is our common position that the war in Afghanistan does not have a military solution. The only way to peace is to have a political dialogue between the Afghan government and its opponents,” Mirziyoyev added.

It is worth mentioning that Uzbekistan has been interested in resolving Afghan issues and has tried to bring Taliban to the negotiation table.
