Pakistani FM to Pompeo:

India’s Aggressive posture could Affect Afghan Peace

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Tuesday told US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo over phone that India’s “aggressive posture” could affect joint efforts for peace in Afghanistan, Qureshi’s press office said.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Tuesday told US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo over phone that India’s “aggressive posture” could affect joint efforts for peace in Afghanistan, Qureshi’s press office said.

It is worth mentioning that Zahid Nasrullah Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, had earlier said that tensions between India and Pakistan will affect the peace process in Afghanistan.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke separately with the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan and urged them to avoid “further military activity” following an air strike by India inside Pakistan.

“I expressed to both Ministers that we encourage India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, and avoid escalation at any cost,” Pompeo said in a statement issued in Washington on Tuesday.
“I also encouraged both Ministers to prioritize direct communication and avoid further military activity,” he added.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after about 40 Indian security forces were killed during a suicide attack nearly two weeks ago and India on Tuesday claimed its fighter jets struck terror camps inside Pakistan.
