Involvement of National Army and Taliban in Laghman

On 14 May 2017, at 14:00hrs, in Laghman province, Mihtarlam city, Omarzai area, Taliban attacked a local “ANA” base with heavy and small arms fire. The “ANA” responded to the attack, including by firing mortar rounds towards the Taliban positions. In the crossfire, a mortar round impacted on a residential area killing five boys. All government sources uniformly state that the mortar was fired by the Taliban.
