The US ambassador to Kabul John Bass welcomed the start of Voter Registration process, saying the election commission has not so far worked enough to inform the people.
“We know that much information has not been given to the people of Afghanistan on how to register. They (people) still do not know that by registering for the parliamentary election, they will be registered for the presidential election as well,” the US ambassador told reporters.
The ambassador says the start of the voter registration process is a good step; because he believes that it will prevent a fraudulent election.
“When you know that how many voters are in a polling center, such a fact makes it impossible to gather massive and counterfeit votes from that center,” he said.
The US envoy said his country will support this government and the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in making preparations for very important election this year and the presidential election next year.
“We believe that this year’s parliamentary election and next year’s presidential election are crucial for the growth of democratic culture, strengthening democratic institutions in the country. We are here to support efforts in this regard,” the US ambassador added.

The US envoy meanwhile said that there is a common sense among the leaders of Afghanistan that the militants who are fighting under the name of (Daesh) in Afghanistan, did not come from Iraq and Syria, but are terrorists that were involved in the Afghan war and now operate under the name of Daesh.
