Kabul Air Defense System Activated
As tensions escalated in various parts of the country, Afghan security officials announced the installation and activation of an air defense system to repel Taliban rocket and missile attacks in Kabul.
Security agencies said in a statement that the newly installed air defense system in Kabul was activated at 2:00 am on Sunday.
According to the statement, the system has proven to be useful in repelling rockets and missiles across the world.
The statement urged Kabul residents not to worry about hearing any noise. A source said that the system has already been installed at the Hamid Karzai International Airport.
However, in the past, Kabul has occasionally been targeted by Taliban rockets and missiles. The group fired rockets on Kabul in August last year too.
