The explosion occurred in Malik Asghar square, across from the Isteghlal high school in capital Kabul.
Security officials said it was a suicide attack that targeted those who gathered to protest over security status and the collapse of Jaghori district.
Hundreds of people on Monday staged a protest rally near the presidential palace over Taliban’s massive attacks on Ghazni’s Jaghori and Malistan districts.
According to some media outlets, quoted from the Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish, the death toll reached 12 killed and 15 wounded so far which may increase.
Eyewitnesses, however, said the number of casualties is higher than what government sources reported.
