The office of supporting open media in Afghanistan (NAI) urged the Afghan government clarity on the assassination of Mina Mangal, former journalist, and advisor to the cultural commission of the House of Representatives.
Unknown gunmen shot dead Mina Mangal Saturday in Kabul’s eighth police district at about 7:30 am (local time).
NAI in a statement on Sunday asked the government to clarify the reason behind her assassination.
Before working as an advisor to the cultural commission of the House of Representatives, Ms Mangal had worked as a presenter for several TV networks.
According to NAI officials, the murder of former TV presenter has caused concerns in the community of journalism, stressing that Ms. Mangal’s occupation should not be an obstacle to the immediate investigation into her murder case.
Following the assassination of Ms. Mangal, Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said that “the issue is under investigation”.
