NATO Backs up Afghanistan in Election Security
NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Cornelius Zimmermann on Saturday said Afghanistan’s National Security Forces with the support of the foreign troops will provide security for a free and transparent election.
NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Cornelius Zimmermann on Saturday said Afghanistan’s National Security Forces with the support of the foreign troops will provide security for a free and transparent election.
“I am more confident that the Afghan security forces assisted by Resolute Support, by NATO, will bring about the conditions for free and fair and secure elections. It will not be easy, but we are taking on the challenge and I know that my colleagues from Resolute Support will be passing on the professional expertise to Afghan forces,” said Zimmermann.
Zimmermann made the remarks at a ceremony held for disabled Afghanistan soldiers for the Invictus Games that will be held in Australia in October.
Zimmermann said although election security is not an easy task, they will support Afghan security forces.
NATO and foreign troops commander General John Nicholson meanwhile said Afghan security forces are undefeatable and they fight not only for Afghanistan, but for the world.
“You doing this not only for the security of Afghanistan, for you and your families, but for all of us around the world,” said Nicholson.
