NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says NATO remains committed to supporting Afghan security forces after discussing current security issues with US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo in Brussels.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says NATO remains committed to supporting Afghan security forces after discussing current security issues with US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo in Brussels.
Jens Stoltenberg met with Mike Pompeo on Tuesday in Brussels, where the two sides had great discussions regarding current security issues, specially peace and security in Afghanistan.
“NATO fully supports efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan,” twitted Mr Stoltenberg, condemning recent horrific attacks in across Afghanistan.
“NATO remains committed to supporting Afghan forces,” he added.
The meeting of US and NATO comes days after US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad wrapped up the ninth round of peace talks with Taliban in Doha. According to Khalilzad, US and Taliban are at the threshold of agreement in Afghanistan.
