NATO new Commander Meets with NUG Leaders

The new commander of Resolute Support Forces Scott Miller met with the leaders of National Unity Government (NUG) after taking over the command on Sunday 2 September.


The new commander of Resolute Support Forces Scott Miller met with the leaders of National Unity Government (NUG) after taking over the command on Sunday 2 September.
The new commander of NATO troops met NUG’s leaders M. Ashraf Ghani and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah late Sunday and emphasized on counter-terrorism.

The presidential palace said in a statement that Mr. Ghani and Scott Miller discussed the priorities of the Afghan security and defense forces, as well as the US strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia, and its positive results.

The executive directorate also said in a statement that the two sides emphasized on strengthening the cooperation between NATO forces and Afghan security forces, and Mr. Miller said that he would not hesitate to do so.
During the meetings, Mr Miller assured that further efforts will be made to strengthen and equip the Afghan security and defense forces.

On Sunday, the NATO and US command was officially handed over to General Scott Miller from General John Nicholson.
