NATO SG in Kabul to Discuss Peace, Commitments
NATO Secretary General (SG) has traveled to Kabul on the eve of US-Taliban peace deal to discuss peace and NATO’s commitments with President Ghani and other senior officials.

The SG will meet with the RSM commander General Scott Miller, NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Nicholas Kay and with troops contributing to the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission.
During a meeting with CEO Abdullah in Kabul, the two sides discussed the peace process, US-Taliban deal, and NATO long term commitments to Afghanistan.
“The President of Afghanistan, the United States Secretary of Defense and the NATO Secretary General will hold a joint press conference today, at +/- 13:00 (Kabul time) at the Afghan Presidential Palace,” NATO said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Taliban on Sunday ordered all its fighters “to refrain from any kind of attack”.
“Today all the Taliban fighters are ordered to refrain from any kind of attack … for the happiness of the nation,” Zabiullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban told Reuters.
NATO SG visit from Afghanistan comes as US-Taliban are set to sign a historic peace deal in Doha with representative of over 30 countries and organizations from around the world in attendance.
