After an official visit from the Republic of China, Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib left Kabul for Saudi Arabia and met his UAE counterpart as well as the US Special Representative for Afghan Peace process ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Sunday.
The office of the national security council (ONSC) said in a statement that “before traveling to Saudi Arabia, Mr Mohib met his UAE counterpart Sheikh Tahnoon in Abu Dhabi, where he discussed Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process and joint counter terrorism”.

In a separate meeting, Mohib met the US Special Representative for Afghan peace process Zalmay Khalilzad in Dubai
“As part of our regional engagement on peace and security on route to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I met with my UAE counterpart Sheikh Tahnoon in Abu Dhabi and had an impromptu meeting with US special envoy for peace Zalmay Khalilzad in Dubai, where we shared notes on our efforts ahead of official meeting this week,” ONSC added.

The visit to regional countries comes as Taliban have repeatedly refused direct talks with the government of Afghanistan, considering it illegitimate.
