Passport Distribution to Resume in 10 Provinces

Officials at the Interior Ministry’s Passport Directorate say that the process of distributing passports in 10 other provinces will begin soon, adding that the technical problem at the General Directorate of Passport had not been resolved yet. 60 people were also arrested on charges of getting commissions.
Mawlawi Alem Gul Haqqani, General Director of Passport office, said at a press conference in Kabul on Wednesday that the technical problem of passport distribution in Kabul has not been solved yet.
“Biometric devices are inactive in some provinces. New biometric devices have been purchased and the process of passport distribution in the capital and 10 other provinces will begin soon,” he added.
According to him, the passport distribution process will be resumed in Badakhshan, Parwan, Kapisa, Logar, Maidan Wardak Ghazni, Daikundi, Faryab, Ghor, and Nuristan provinces.
“Currently, 600,000 passport volumes are ready for distribution, and another one million volumes will be printed,” Haqqani said.
Haqqani, meanwhile, said that once the technical problems are solved in capital Kabul, citizens can register online and go through the process of obtaining a passport.
