Peace Delegation Left Kabul for Doha
Afghan government’s peace negotiating team departed to Doha on Tuesday morning after conducting extensive consultations across Afghanistan.
During a three-week break from negotiations, the negotiating team met with President Ashraf Ghani, head and members of High Council for National Reconciliation, political and civil society representatives.
“Lasting peace must be just, inclusive and must be built on views of all Afghans,” said Nader Naderi, a member of the negotiating team. “It is clear that ceasefire is the absolute priority of our people and it must be the priority for negotiations,” he added.
The second round of talks is going to begin today in Doha as Afghanistan has witnessed escalation of violence and a series of targeted killings since February.
