Plane Carrying some Politicians caught fire while Landing in Kabul
A passenger plane belonging to a private company (Kam Air) caught fire while landing at Kabul airport, according to reports. Ahmad Zia Massoud and some other politicians have reportedly been on board.
The plane was en route to Kabul from northern Badakhshan province on Saturday morning which reportedly caught fire while landing in Kabul airport.
According to passengers, an engine of the plane caught fire in the air and then went off during landing; But the pilot was able to land the plane. All the passengers are safe.
A number of high-ranking officials and politicians were also on board, according to reports.
Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the incident, saying the plane was coming from Badakhshan to Kabul.
Naeem Salehi, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority, described the accident as a minor technical problem and added that no passengers were injured.
Some sources say that Salahuddin Rabbani, former foreign minister, was also on board.
