President Ghani Discusses Peace with Spanish Defense Minister

During the meeting, Spanish Defense Minister María Margarita Robles Fernández said Spain’s government supports President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s roadmap to peace, calling it a comprehensive, inclusive and practical plan to reaching sustainable peace.
Minister Fernández reaffirmed his government’s commitment to continue to support Afghanistan.
President Ghani thanked Minister Fernández and government, and people of Spain for their support in training and helping Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
The President reiterated his policy of including women in every issues of national significance, including peace process.
“Sustainable peace and stability cannot be guaranteed with ignoring women,” president Ghani said.
“Our peace plan is a manifestation of national consensus and inclusivity. We have brought women and youth to positions of decision making in every aspect of governance and policy making, including peace and security,” he added.
