Dawa Khan Minapal, the deputy spokesman to the president, said that President Ghani left Kabul early Wednesday for Nimruz province.
Beside assessing the situation of Nimruz province and meeting provincial officials, President Ghani is expected to inaugurate Kamal Khan dam.
Kamal Khan Dam is a hydroelectric and irrigation dam on the Helmand river in southern Chahar Burjak District of Nimruz Province.
The hydroelectric plant produces 9 MW of electric power in addition to providing irrigation to about 175,000 hectares (432,434 acres) of agricultural land.
