President Ghani Lands in western Herat Province

President Ashraf Ghani, leading a high-level governmental delegation, arrived in western Herat province, says the Presidential Palace (Arg).

The purpose of the trip is to assess the overall status of the province.

President Ghani is scheduled to meet civil, defense and security officials as well as elders and influential figures of the province.

The trip comes as Herat province has witnessed escalation of the Taliban attacks in the past two weeks, and some districts of the province are under the control of the group.
