President Ghani Meets Iran’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan
President M. Ashraf Ghani met Iran’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian and discussed expansion of relations between the two countries as well as the Afghan peace process.

During the meeting held on Saturday morning at the presidential palace (Arg), President Ghani said the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan puts any effort in place to establish sustainable peace and stability in the country, that will ensure peace and stability in the region.
“Mohammad Embrahim Taherian provided information on the recent visit of the Taliban’s delegation to Tehran and said Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms its principled stance, which is respect for Afghanistan constitution,” Arg said in a statement.
“Iran will support an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process, where the Afghan government plays the pivotal role,” the statement added.
