President Ghani Meets Italian Defence Minister
The Afghan President M. Ashraf Ghani met with the Italian Defence Minister Elisabetta Trenta late Saturday at the presidential palace.
The Afghan President M. Ashraf Ghani met with the Italian Defence Minister Elisabetta Trenta late Saturday at the presidential palace.
During the meeting, both sides discussed various issues including expanding bilateral cooperation and security cooperation, the presidential palace said in a statement.
“President Ashraf Ghani discussed security cooperation,” the statement said.
President Ghani thanked Minister Trenta on behalf of the Italian government and nation for being a true international partner and supporting Afghanistan in its combat against terrorism.
On her part, the Italian Defence Minister praised Ghani’s efforts in bringing reform, combat corruption, strengthening women’s role and accelerating the peace process, saying that Italy stands with the government and the people of Afghanistan.
