President Ghani, US NSA Stressed on Start of Intra-Afghan Talks

The presidential palace said in a statement that the US supports a sovereign, democratic and unified Afghanistan that never again turns into a safe haven for terrorism.
According to the statement, both sides discussed direct talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban, emphasizing that the talks should begin as soon as possible.
The sides also expressed their concerns about the escalation of violence by the Taliban, noting that this violence must be stopped in order to establish lasting peace in Afghanistan.
