Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen says that prisoner swap was not for direct talks with the government in Kabul.
Taliban spokesperson in a tweet said that they reject baseless reports, suggesting the group released two foreign professors due to a deal with the government in Kabul or for future direct talks.
“IEA released two foreign professors, Kevin King and Temothy Weeks, in Zabul, Afghanistan, as a confidence-building measure to help the peace process aimed at peaceful solution of the Afghan issue,” he added.
This comes as reports indicate that prisoner swap between the Afghan government and Taliban was for beginning direct negotiations.
