Reconciliation Council Not Inclusive and non-National

“Twelve candidates of the Afghan presidential elections consider peace as a national and inclusive process and believe that no group or entity has the authority to monopoly this national issue. These candidates do not consider the current “reconciliation council” formed recently by the Afghan government as inclusive and do not accept its current composition,” the statement read.
The statement protested the lack of consultations with the presidential candidates and emphasized that they should be consulted on all national issues, otherwise, the decisions taken are not acceptable.
“The presidential candidates, while acknowledging that it has not been consulted with them on the formation of a high council of reconciliation as well as the appointment of its members, unanimously believe that this council should have a national and inclusive composition, and that the actual representatives of the people of Afghanistan, from different classes, should be included in it. Therefore, the composition of the high council of reconciliation must be changed as soon as possible and in consultations with presidential candidates. The new high council reconciliation should be both national and capable of promoting peace as a national issue,” the statement added.
