Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah said Monday at a public awareness campaign on increasing women’s participation in the presidential elections that “repeating the past election disaster is unbearable.”
“Repeating the 2014 election disaster is no longer bearable to the people of Afghanistan. The goodness, well-being, and peace of Afghanistan are depended to the presidential elections, and there is no other way, even those who do not believe in elections will have no choice but to accept the elections,” said Abdullah Abdullah, who was addressing the ceremony.
According to him, women have played their role in the previous elections well. Therefore, they should be at the center of attention in this national process.
“The role of the Ministry of Women affairs and its related departments is very important in the elections; but this share does not mean supporting a particular candidate,” he added.
Afghanistan’s presidential elections is expected to be held on 28 September 2019.
