“Out of the 20 detainees released by the Taliban, only one was serving in the police force who then left his duty,” said Tadin Khan, Kandahar police chief in a statement.

On Sunday, Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for the Taliban political office in Qatar said that 20 prisoners of the Afghan government will be released and handed over to ICRC in Kandahar.
Afghan government, however, has so far released 361 Taliban prisoners from Bagram prison under the presidential decree of March 11.
