About 50 security forces, along with Samangan’s NDS Director col. Khawani Taheri were killed in clashes with Taliban, local sources claimed on Tuesday.
According to the source, the militants stormed security check-posts in the Zerki area of Dara-i-Sauf Payeen district of at 11pm.
The press office of Samangan governor confirmed that 6 police personnel, along with NDS director Col. Khawani Taheri were killed in clashes with Taliban.
Meanwhile, local sources said that 50 security forces were killed and about 19 others were captured by the Taliban.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, claimed dozens of security forces were killed, including NDS chief, and weapons and ammunitions were captured.
