“Stability and Partnership” Electoral ticket led by Abdullah Runs for President

On the last day of the registration process for July presidential election, the “stability and partnership” electoral ticket led by Abdullah Abdullah with Enayatullah Babur Farahmand and Dr. Asadullah Saadati as his running mates entered the race by registering themselves with the IEC.

This electoral ticket is composed of Jamiat-e Islami, Wahdat-e Islami, and Junbish-e Milli political parties.

During a gathering held to announce the electoral ticket, Salahuddin Rabbani, the head of Jamiat party said his party decided to suggest Dr. Abdullah as the party’s candidate in line with Wahdat-e Islami party led by M. Karim Khalili and Junbish-e Milli party led by General Abdul Rashid Dostum.
“Jamiat-e Islami has always been seeking change and reform of the system and could not be associated with teams that are in contrast to the main lines of the party,” said Rabbani.
The first VP General Abdul Rashid Dostum, who was addressing the gathering said, establishing a ministry for youths is among the program of this ticket.
“The Stability and Partnership’s electoral ticket plans to create government’s supreme council and the executive directorate will remain in place,” he added.

The leader of Wahdat-e Islami party M. Karim Khalili also said at the gathering that “the most important issue is national unity, and I appeal to all electoral teams not to turn the competition into hostility”.
The head of the “stability and partnership” team Abdullah Abdullah said that “adjusting the constitution, the existence of executive directorate, and changing the structure of the system through the constitution are among our priorities”.
“We want peace with dignity,” Abdullah added, saying that “peace is the real demand of Afghans”.

Mr Abdullah along with his running mates went to the election commission headquarter and submitted their nomination papers for president.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Abdullah stressed on “bringing reforms in the election commission”.
