Taliban, Gov’t delegations to hold General meeting in Doha
Members of the Afghan government delegation team say a general meeting will be held today (Tuesday) with the Taliban delegation in Doha, Qatar.
“Today, the contact groups of both delegations continued the discussion on rules and procedures and prepared to present it to the general meeting between the two negotiating teams to be held tomorrow (Tuesday),” said Nader Naderi, a member of the Afghan negotiating team.
Although, the talks between the Government-Taliban contact groups were continued yesterday, it did not reach a conclusion that would lead to the direct talks between the two sides.
Sources from the government delegation says that the two sides only discussed the rules and procedures. The Taliban say the contact committees of intra-Afghan negotiation teams discussed the focal principles and schedule of the next meetings.
Najia Anwari, a spokeswoman for the state ministry for peace affairs, said the meeting between the two sides had continued in a peaceful atmosphere and that members of the contact groups had continued efforts to agree on the agenda, negotiating principles and timetable of the meetings.
It is worth mentioning that today (Tuesday) is the fourth day of intra-Afghan talks in Doha since it was inaugurated with the participation of the representatives and authorities of regional and international countries and organizations.
