Inamuddin Rahmani, a spokesman for Kunduz police told reporters on Saturday that government’s armed oppositions carried out attacks on outposts of the city center from several points which were repulsed by the security forces.
According to him, the Taliban launched their attacks at 2 am on Friday night.
“Sporadic clashes are currently taking place in parts of the capital city of Kunduz, but the situation is under the control of the security forces,” he added.
Earlier, there were reports that the Taliban overrun several checkpoints in 3 and 6 police district of Kunduz city, but the security officials do not confirm these reports.
The spokesman also said that security forces used tactics during the battle and retreated from the city’s checkpoints for a while, but now the checkpoints are in control of security forces.
Zabihullah Mujahid, who introduces himself as Taliban spokesman twitted that Taliban fighters have taken the control of a checkpoint in Shinwari area.
According to Mujahid, 5 security force members were killed in clashes.
