“the security forces in the district were threatened by the Taliban for three days and no assistance was provided to them, Bilcheragh district fell to Taliban the second time,” said Niqibullah Fayiq, the governor of Faryab province.
According to the chairman of provincial council Tahir Rahmani, about 40 Afghan security forces have been taken captive by the Taliban insurgents.
Mr Rahmani criticized the central government as being careless, saying the Taliban controls three districts of the province and 11 other districts are being threatened.
Taliban group has confirmed in a message to media outlets Bilcheragh district is under their control.
