Taliban suffer heavy casualties in west of the country


Local officials in Herat province reported that 79 armed Taliban were killed and wounded in a joint operation of the security forces in Shindand district.
“43 armed Taliban were killed and 36 others wounded in a joint operation of the security forces,” Herat governor’s spokesman Jilani Farhad said.
“Mullah Najib, a war commander and Taliban’s military district governor was among the injured,” Mr. Farhad added.
According to him, in the latest operation that was carried out last night, and several villages were cleared of anti-government armed oppositions.
“The number of Taliban’s casualties reached to 150 during a 10-day security forces operation, including several Taliban commanders,” Herat governor spokesman said.
He said that six civilians and one police officer were killed during the operation.
Shindand district has the greatest number of Taliban members that they have heavily suffered casualties in the latest security forces operations and fled to neighboring countries.
