Mohammad Hanif Atmar, leader of the peace and moderation electoral ticket along with his first deputy Yunis Qanuni arrived in Mazar-e Sharif on Monday.
Addressing a gathering in Mazar-e Sharif city, Hanif Atmar condemned the armed conflict earlier this month in Balkh and accused the government of deceit and cowardice against this province.
Mr Atmar also accused the NUG leaders of using anger against the people of northern Balkh province.
“The Afghan people are now on the brink of two major national events: peace and elections,” Atmar said, adding that “the government is the only obstacle to peace and elections”.
He emphasised that this administration would not have credibility and legal status after the month Jawza.
according to him, the government is pushing to sabotage the peace process and even tried to destroy US – Taliban peace talks as well.
“They have delayed the elections twice. I do not know what they are thinking about, maybe they have some intentions but the only obstacle to peace and elections is the current administration,” said Atmar.
It is worth mentioning that Hanif Atmar was addressing the fifth death anniversary of Marshal M. Qasim Fahim in Mazar-e Sharif.
