Chief executive of the NUG Abdullah Abdullah, who has attended the world economic forum (WEF) in Davos, said that there are still many problems for peace with Taliban.
Many changes have taken place in the past 18 years, but there are many problems to bring peace.
Abdullah mentioned that the main obstacle about peace is Taliban’s unwillingness to hold direct talks with the Afghan government.
Abdullah told world leaders at Davos that the Afghan people are not willing to return to the past and that if the Taliban want to talk about their lifestyle, “they should come and discuss it”.
“Drug is another big problem that finances terrorism which must be prevented,” he added.
Mr Abdullah considers the achievements in the past 18 years as the red lines in talks with Taliban.
The WEF was set up in 1971 in Geneva by social entrepreneur Klaus Schwab. Independent and not-for-profit, it aims to bring political and business leaders together to help them collaborate on global challenges and find solutions.
