UAE Proposal Approved/ Hezb-e Islami prisoners to be Released: NSC

The meeting condemned the attack on Ulema conference in Kabul, and approved the proposal of UAE to deploy its Special Forces within the NATO framework to advise and train Afghan forces. It also decided to release 269 inmates of Hezb-e Islami.

“The NSC has discussed the release of 269 Hizb-i Islami detainees who have been reviewed by the relevant organs and decided in accordance with the Peace Agreement to release them,” NSC summit chaired by president Ghani said.
The meeting also discussed the rights of the Human rights commission to monitor detention centers.

At the meeting, a cooperation and coordination agreement between the Office of the National Security Council and the Independent Human Rights Commission on the continued monitoring of Parwan detention centers in accordance with the constitution, duties and qualifications of the Afghanistan human rights commission in accordance with international commitments were approved.

However, releasing the prisoners related to Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has had many reactions in the country. It is said that the released prisoners of Hezb-e Islami were behind terrorist attacks.

The latest one was Kandahar suicide attack which police officials announced that a released member of Hezb-e Islami was behind the attack.
