UN family in Afghanistan condemns killing today of Kandahar journalist Abdul Manan Arghand.
“We express deepest condolences and urge authorities to investigate and bring perpetrators to justice. No impunity for crimes against reporters and free media,” UN wrote on Twitter.

Unknown gunmen killed a journalist Abdul Manan Arghand in Kandahar on Wednesday morning.
According to Arghand’s family, the incident happened at about 9 am in Yarana Market in PD9 in Kandahar city.

Arghand, 31, had been driving in his car when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on him.
Arghand has worked for many media outlets.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the shooting.

Reporters Without Borders said in their annual 2017 reports that last year was a deadly one for journalists in Afghanistan.
