Hanif Atmar, the “peace and moderation” electoral nominee, criticized government’s measures during a press conference on Monday, saying that dismissing electoral commissioners is illegal and the agenda of consultative Loya Jirga must be clear.
“The government has begun clearing up fans of rival teams from the government’s body,” Hanif Atmar said, criticizing government’s actions as illegal. “The presidential elections must be transparently and fairly held on its determined time,” he added, stressing that “peace and election are not against each other and should be complementary”.

Mr Atmar emphasized that unilateral electoral reforms for personal interests will not be acceptable.
“We are concerned over the dismissal of electoral commission members and that was a hasty decision,” said Atmar.

Atmar underlined that the commissioners were not the only responsible officials for October parliamentary elections, the government institutions which intervened in the process and caused crisis should be introduced to the attorney general office as well.
“All options are on the table and will act in consultation with the members of the team If the illegal actions of the government against the peace and moderation electoral ticket continue,” he warned, accusing the government of using power against the fans of his electoral team.
“president Ghani is responsible for any disastrous consequences,” he added.
