US Commander Votel Meets President Ghani, NSA Mohib

US CENTCOM commander Gen. Joseph Votel met with president M. Ashraf Ghani and Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib on Tuesday, Arg said in a statement.


US CENTCOM commander Gen. Joseph Votel met with president M. Ashraf Ghani and Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib on Tuesday, Arg said in a statement.
During the meetings, they discussed security, peace process, and joint counter terrorism.
“My mission is over and my successor will be a person, who will continue to work as a strategic partner with the Afghan government, the security forces and the people of Afghanistan,” Gen. Votel said during his meeting with president Ghani.

President Ghani thanked US cooperation with Afghanistan and Gen. Votel’s services, saying that Afghan national defense and security forces ANDSF are now more capable and their capacities have improved.
“The fight against terrorism will continue and the 40-year crisis will be fundamentally come to an end. Afghanistan will achieve a lasting and dignified peace,” president Ghani underlined.

Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib, in a separate meeting with Gen. Votel, thanked US Government for enduring partnership, equipping ANDSF and facilitating peace talks.
Gen. Votel reaffirmed that the people and government of the United States support Afghan-led and Intra-Afghan peace process and called on regional countries to practically work more for eliminating terrorism.
