US Congress Speaker Confers with President Ghani on Peace Process
President Ashraf Ghani discussed about the peace process, women rights and ceasefire with US congress speaker Nancy Pelosi and a number of House of Representatives on Monday night.
The Afghan presidential Palace said in a statement that President Ahsraf Ghani spoke via video conference with Ms Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the US House of Representatives and a number of House members.
The sides talked about the US continued support to Afghanistan, the peace process and next steps and the rights of women, said the statement.
In this video conference, First Lady, First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, Foreign Minister Mohmmad Hanif Atmar, NSA Hamdullah Mohib, Director General of AOP Fazel Fazly were present.
They also expressed their concerns over the escalation of violence and need for an immediate ceasefire, added the statement.
This comes as the commander of Resolute Support Mission (RSM) General Scott Miller has recently said that he received order of troop level withdrawal from Afghanistan.
