VP Danish Discusses Afghan-led Peace Process with Chinese Ambassador

The Chinese ambassador to Kabul Liu Jinsong met with second vice president M. Sarwar Danish and discussed the peace process, regional joint cooperation, counter-terrorism and mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The Chinese ambassador retreated his country’s support from the peace process in Afghanistan, saying that China pushes for regional cooperation regarding peace. He said trilateral dialogue among Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China held recently in Kabul is effective on the peace process.

The ambassador said that the peace process will result under the leadership of the Afghan government and people.
Mr. Liu Jinsong also promised that the People’s Republic of China will work with the government and the people of Afghanistan in the economic sector.
The Chinese ambassador promised in the meeting that in addition to expanding economic and security cooperation between the two countries, China will promote cultural exchanges and providing more scholarships for young Afghan people.

During the meeting, the second VP Mohammad Sarwar Danish expressed satisfaction at the cooperation of the People’s Republic of China with the government and the people of Afghanistan, and reaffirmed that regional cooperation for the stability of Afghanistan and the region and the growth of economic interactions is a fundamental necessity.
In this regard, Mr. Danish described the creation of joint economic cooperation between Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, and Central Asia on the stability and security effective in the region, expressing hope that the joint efforts would continue to expand.

Afghanistan has the necessary preparations for intra-Afghan talks with the aim to build trust, saying options like ceasefire and freeing Taliban members can be discussed.
“The aim of intra-Afghan talks in the peace process is direct talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government,” Mr Danish added.
Speaking about the postponement of the presidential election, the second VP said the main reason behind the delay of election is better preparations of the IEC for holding the presidential election and other elections in the coming year.
