US Senator on Afghan Peace:
We need a Good deal, not a Fake one
US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has recently said that the US needs a good peace deal with Taliban, not a fake one.
US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has recently said that the US needs a good peace deal with Taliban, not a fake one.
“I hope the Trump Administration will not give into absurd Taliban demands for US withdrawal within 18 months – regardless of conditions on the ground,” US Senator Lindsey Graham twitted Friday.
“We now have a small US military footprint, along with our allies, that is an insurance policy against the reemergence of al-Qaeda/ISIS types and help hold Afghanistan together,”
“How Afghanistan turns out is vitally important to our own national security interests as this is the place it all started on 9/11. We need a good deal, not a fake deal,” he stressed.
The remarks by the US senator come as Taliban had previously said that they have agreed in the draft with American officials on the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 18 months, however, US special envoy on peace Zalmay Khalilzad has repeatedly stressed that there is no agreement until everything is agreed.
