Importing Low-Quality Goods Banned at Afghanistan Customs

DIDPress: Afghan interim government suspended fuel imports through Abunasr Farahi border crossing in Farah province due to the entry of low-quality fuel.

Shamsuddin Shariati, Acting Head of the High directorate of Supervision and Prosecution of Decrees and Edicts, announced at a press conference Wednesday that the cabinet has decided to completely ban the import of low-quality materials such as fuel oil, gas, chemical fertilizers, medicines, and food products.

According to him, a joint committee from various agencies reviewed the imports of low-quality fuel and prepared a plan to prevent its entry into Afghanistan, which has been approved by the cabinet and endorsed by the Taliban leader.

Between June 10 and January 13 of the previous solar year, 1,572 tankers carrying low-quality fuel were identified, of which 1,014 consignments were returned, while the remainder entered the market, he added.

He also announced the suspension of imports of A80 fuel and unnecessary petroleum products from other Afghanistan customs points.

Mohammad younus Mohmand, Deputy to the Commerce Chamber, said traders are committed to importing quality fuel and that the closure of the Farah customs will not affect prices.
