DID Press: Chiefs of Defense of the armed forces from Central Asia and the United States gathered in Islamabad and exchanged views on regional security dynamics.

Pakistan on Saturday (4 Asad) hosted the “Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference”; a meeting that brought together senior military commanders from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting has been called an important step towards strengthening regional security cooperation and military diplomacy.

According to a statement by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), the important gathering was held under the title “Strengthening Ties, Securing Peace” which aimed to strengthen security cooperation, increase joint training programs and share best practices in the field of counter-terrorism and other defense-related areas.

Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Sayed Asim Munir formally welcomed the delegations and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability.

“In an era defined by transnational threats and complex and complex challenges, bilateral military cooperation, strategic dialogue and mutual trust are essential,” he said. Pakistan remains committed to working with partner countries for a secure and prosperous region.”

The participating defense chiefs held in-depth discussions on regional security dynamics, counter-terrorism cooperation, evolving strategic trends in Central and South Asia, and coordinated humanitarian responses in times of crisis.

The delegations also reaffirmed their shared resolve to maintain peace, respect national sovereignty, and confront shared threats including terrorism, cyber insecurity, and violent extremism.

The participants appreciated Pakistan’s leadership and hospitality and described the conference as an important step towards promoting comprehensive and forward-looking defense diplomacy.

The event once again highlighted Pakistan’s continued role as a key player in shaping a secure, interconnected and cooperative regional security environment based on shared interests and regional solidarity.

Pakistan’s army chief was in Beijing earlier this week, where he held meetings with senior Chinese political and military leaders.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Friday.

Rubio appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts to mediate between the US and Iran and praised Islamabad’s role in maintaining regional stability.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also said in his speech at the Atlantic Council that Pakistan wants to play the role of a bridge between the US and China.

He noted that Pakistan has brought the two powers closer in the past and is ready to play the same role now
