Taliban-Iran-UN trilateral meeting on Afghanistan refugees to be held in Kabul

DID Press: A trilateral meeting will soon be held in Kabul with the participation of the Taliban government, Iran and the UN representatives to review the situation of Afghanistani refugees, announced Representative of the UNHCR.

According to the Taliban government’s Ministry of Refugees and Returnees, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, acting minister of the refugees and returnees, met with Arafat Jamal, representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), to discuss the upcoming meeting.

Arafat Jamal described his recent visit to Afghanistan as positive and effective, adding that the UN is trying to attract more financial resources to support Afghanistani refugees and returnees.

He emphasized that Iran has announced its readiness to hold a trilateral technical meeting and that this meeting will be held in Kabul soon.

According to him, the meeting is expected to discuss in detail issues related to refugees in Iran, especially the problems of returnees.

He also announced the continuation of multilateral meetings in the future, including a meeting in Doha to attract international financial support.

Mawlawi Abdul Kabir also welcomed holding this meeting, considering it an important step in resolving the issues of Afghanistani refugees and returnees.
He underlined the Taliban government’s readiness to cooperate with international institutions in this regard.

The two sides also exchanged views on the details of the meeting, including the composition of the participants and its implementation mechanism
