Afghanistan Produces 60% of its Flour Domestically
DID Press: Afghanistan now produces 60% of its annual flour needs, announced the Economic Deputy of the caretaker government.

The country requires about 6 million tons of flour each year, with 3.5 million tons currently supplied by domestic factories and local mills.
Around 200 flour factories operate nationwide, producing one million tons annually, while the rest comes from local mills.
The establishment of these factories involved nearly $150 million in investment and created permanent jobs for approximately 2,500 people.
To support domestic production and farmers, wheat import tariffs have been reduced, smuggling banned, and surplus wheat is purchased from farmers during harvest and stored in silos for market distribution.
